Código 1530 15-Year Extra Añejo tequila in a luxury wooden presentation case with glasses and decanter

There are tequilas made for the moment, and then there is Código 1530 15-Year Extra Añejo, a rare extra añejo tequila built around patience, memory, and the kind of slow craftsmanship that asks the world to sit still for a minute.

Código 1530 has introduced its new 15-Year Extra Añejo, a limited luxury tequila release with only 350 bottles available worldwide. The expression is aged for 15 years in French white oak Cabernet barrels, then finished for six more months in French Cognac casks.

That is not a quick visit to the barrel room. That is a long watch.

For those who understand agave spirits, time matters. Too much oak can swallow tequila. Too little can leave a luxury expression feeling unfinished. This double barrel tequila walks that narrow bridge, giving the liquid structure and depth while still protecting the identity of the agave.

A Tequila Built on Time

The Código 1530 15-Year Extra Añejo is produced with naturally filtered local water, fully matured agave, and traditions rooted in Jalisco. The brand’s tequila is passionately produced in Amatitán, Jalisco, a region where agave culture is not decoration. It is inheritance.

As a Puerto Rican and Taíno man, I always pay attention to the way land speaks through food, drink, and ritual. In the Caribbean, we know that what comes from the earth carries memory. In Jalisco, agave does the same. When handled with respect, tequila becomes more than a pour. It becomes a conversation between soil, fire, wood, and time.

This rare extra añejo tequila arrives with a deep red-amber color. On the nose, Código 1530 describes toasted oak, buttery maple, vanilla, dark cacao, and a clean mineral edge. On the palate, it brings creamy texture, dry plum, cinnamon, polished oak, and a long finish with touches of tobacco.

That profile sounds less like a party shot and more like a quiet chair, good glassware, and a room where nobody is rushing the story.

A Collector’s Presentation

The Código 1530 15-Year Extra Añejo is presented as a full luxury experience. Each individually numbered release includes one 750mL bottle, two crystal tasting glasses, a handcrafted crystal decanter with a gold-plated stopper, a bespoke presentation case, and a Certificate of Authenticity.

Federico Vaughn, Código 1530 Tequila Co-founder, called the release “a symbol of patience,” noting that the tequila spent fifteen years in Cabernet French Oak and Cognac casks before reaching its moment. He also said it was made for “the connoisseur” and for those who understand that rare things are not rushed.

That may be the clearest way to understand this bottle. It is not chasing the crowd. It is speaking to collectors, agave lovers, and those who see spirits as art with a heartbeat.

Price and Availability

Código 1530 15-Year Extra Añejo is bottled at 40% ABV. It will be available in limited quantities for a suggested retail price of $4,100 in the United States and through select retailers worldwide.

As always, enjoy responsibly. This is a bottle meant for adults who appreciate craft, culture, and restraint. The best luxury is never loud. Sometimes, it arrives in a wooden case, amber in the glass, carrying fifteen years of patience.
