Massachusetts has a new destination for anyone who believes a trip for plants can easily turn into lunch, home décor shopping and a little inspiration for the next gathering.
Terrain has opened Terrain at Wayland Village, marking the home and garden lifestyle brand’s first location in Massachusetts. Located at 297 Boston Post Road in Wayland, the destination brings together Terrain’s retail store, all-season nursery, café, private event spaces and personalized design services.
For the Anthropologie Group brand, Wayland represents more than another storefront. The location introduces Greater Boston shoppers to the complete Terrain experience, built around gardening, entertaining, seasonal living and connecting with nature.
More Than a Garden Store
The Terrain Home + Garden Store features a rotating assortment of home décor, outdoor living pieces, entertaining essentials, gifts and seasonal collections.
Just beyond the retail experience, the all-season nursery offers plants, gardening inspiration and resources for creating outdoor spaces, with a focus on container gardening, seasonal planting and plant-driven design.
Terrain’s concept has always blurred the line between indoors and outdoors, and Wayland appears designed to carry that philosophy throughout the property.
Come for the Plants, Stay for the Café
The new Terrain Cafe adds another layer to the experience with a greenhouse-inspired setting and menus centered around seasonal ingredients.
Guests can turn a shopping trip into brunch, lunch or dinner, while Terrain’s culinary team works with purveyors to source fresh ingredients for its seasonally driven dishes.
The Wayland opening also introduces a substantial gathering space.
Terrain Gardens includes more than 8,700 square feet of indoor event space, positioned near Wayland’s natural wetlands and the all-season nursery. The setting is designed for weddings, celebrations and private events, pairing natural scenery with Terrain’s culinary and hospitality offerings.
Through Terrain Events, guests can also access event planning, food and beverage service, furnishings and the brand’s signature nature-centered atmosphere.
Bringing Terrain Home
For customers who want more than inspiration, Design by Terrain offers customized services including plantings, living gifts, wedding and event floral design, garden projects, and seasonal or holiday decorating.
It makes the Wayland location something of a living showroom. Visitors can explore ideas at the store, then work with Terrain’s designers to translate those ideas into their own homes, gardens or celebrations.
Growing Roots in Massachusetts
Terrain is also marking its Massachusetts arrival with a new partnership with the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, the brand’s first garden partnership outside Pennsylvania.
Terrain plans to support the organization through an annual unrestricted donation and collaborative storytelling, with shared areas of interest including horticultural education, native plants, pollinator habitats and environmental stewardship.
The partnership feels like a natural extension of a brand whose stores are built around the rhythms of planting, growing and gathering.
