The Los Angeles artist brings classic flash, craftsmanship and a “made to last” philosophy to Fernet-Branca’s third annual U.S. Limited Edition.
Some bottles are meant to disappear into the back bar. Others practically demand a spotlight.
For its 2026 U.S. Limited Edition, Fernet-Branca is leaning into a cultural connection that has been developing organically for years, tapping Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artist Austin England to transform its unmistakable bottle into a piece of collectible tattoo-inspired art.
And this partnership makes sense.
Fernet-Branca has long occupied its own corner of bartender, artist and tattoo culture. The Italian amaro’s historic imagery, particularly its famous eagle carrying a bottle across the globe, has found its way from vintage posters and calendars onto skin, flash sheets and artwork around the world.
Rather than manufacture a connection to that community, Fernet-Branca is celebrating one that was already there.
From Fernet-Branca Iconography to Classic Tattoo Flash
England, whose work spans tattooing, illustration, engraving and neon fabrication, approached the bottle with what he calls a “made to last” philosophy.
For the new design, he reinterpreted Fernet-Branca’s eagle through the bold vocabulary of traditional tattoo flash. Swirling floral elements evoke autumn leaves caught in motion, while the eagle provides a sharper visual counterpoint. The result feels vintage without being trapped in the past, which is exactly where a 181-year-old brand should be playing.
There is history on this bottle, but it does not feel dusty.
England’s approach also mirrors something at the heart of Fernet-Branca itself: craftsmanship that rewards patience. Tattooing, illustration, engraving and amaro-making all require a certain respect for process. You cannot rush the good stuff.
The Collaboration Goes Beyond the Bottle
The artwork will also extend into a limited Fernet-Branca merchandise collection featuring apparel, hats and bar accessories, arriving in September while supplies last.
The brand and England are taking the collaboration one step further with a four-day Los Angeles activation from September 15 through 18 at England’s tattoo shop and gallery, located between Silver Lake and Echo Park.
The garage-style creative space will become an immersive showcase featuring the limited-edition bottle, merchandise capsule, curated experiences and flash tattoos by Austin England.
It is the kind of launch that understands the assignment. Instead of simply borrowing tattoo aesthetics for packaging, Fernet-Branca is putting the collaboration directly into the creative environment that inspired it.
A Bottle Worth Keeping
Collectors can find the 2026 Fernet-Branca Limited Edition at select retailers nationwide now, with a suggested retail price of $34.99.
Whether you are a longtime Fernet drinker, a bartender who knows the almost ceremonial reputation of the stuff, a tattoo-art devotee or simply someone who refuses to throw away a beautifully designed bottle, England’s edition gives Fernet-Branca another reason to live outside the liquor cabinet.
After all, great bottle design should work a little like great ink.
You may encounter it in passing, but when it is done right, you remember it.
