Bottle of The Lost Explorer Tequila Reposado crafted by Maestro Tequilero Enrique de Colsa

In the world of tequila, tradition matters. But so does innovation. The finest spirits often emerge when master craftsmanship respects heritage while embracing thoughtful evolution. That is precisely the path being charted by The Lost Explorer with the debut of its first aged agave expression, The Lost Explorer Tequila Reposado.

Just weeks after its Tequila Blanco was crowned Best in Show Agave Spirit in a blind tasting competition featuring 173 entries, The Lost Explorer has taken that award-winning foundation and transformed it into something deeper, richer, and remarkably sophisticated.

At the center of this achievement is renowned Maestro Tequilero Enrique de Colsa, one of the most respected figures in modern tequila production. With more than three decades of experience, including stewardship of some of the industry’s most celebrated brands, de Colsa has built a reputation for honoring tequila’s roots while expanding its possibilities.

The result is a tequila that speaks softly but leaves a lasting impression.

A Global Journey Through Three Barrels

Unlike traditional reposados that mature in a single type of cask, The Lost Explorer employs a unique three-cask resting process over four months.

The spirit develops character through:

  • French Sauternes wine casks from Bordeaux
  • Pedro Ximénez sherry casks from Jerez, Spain
  • American bourbon barrels from Kentucky

Each barrel contributes a distinct voice.

The bourbon casks provide structure, toasted oak, vanilla, and subtle smoke. The Sauternes barrels introduce floral aromas, honeyed notes, and a velvety mouthfeel. The Pedro Ximénez casks bring layers of dried fruit, warm spice, and gentle sweetness.

Together, they create an elegant balance that never overshadows the star of the show: the agave itself.

“Exploring a variety of wood and barrels, I set out to craft a Reposado that builds depth and structure while preserving the true character of the agave,” said Enrique de Colsa.

No Additives. No Shortcuts.

What makes this release especially noteworthy is what has been left out.

The Lost Explorer Tequila Reposado remains completely additive-free and is crafted from 100% Blue Weber Agave grown in the lowlands of Jalisco. Every bottle reflects a commitment to authenticity, patience, and meticulous craftsmanship.

In an era where consumers increasingly seek transparency in what they drink, that commitment resonates.

The tequila has already earned a Gold Medal from The Spirits Business Global Tequila & Mezcal Masters, signaling that industry experts recognize the quality behind the label.

More Than a Spirit

For The Lost Explorer, tequila is not simply a beverage. It is an expression of place, culture, and connection.

The brand’s philosophy centers on slowing down, embracing discovery, and reconnecting with meaningful experiences. Its growing collection of agave spirits, including mezcals and tequilas, reflects a deep respect for Mexico’s traditions while inviting modern drinkers to explore them in new ways.

As CEO Gregory Gatti explained, this launch represents “a natural evolution” of the brand’s partnership with Enrique de Colsa and a celebration of craftsmanship at its highest level.

With its layered complexity, additive-free production, and innovative aging process, The Lost Explorer Tequila Reposado stands as a compelling reminder that sometimes the most rewarding journeys begin by honoring where you started.
