New York has never been shy about turning an ordinary evening into a grand occasion. On August 27, 2026, Waldorf Astoria New York will add a glamorous new chapter to its history when its legendary Grand Ballroom transforms into a full-size tennis court for one unforgettable night.

The Waldorf Astoria Racquet Club: Ballroom Tennis Invitational will blend professional tennis, fashion, Champagne, culinary theater and luxury hospitality beneath the ballroom’s glittering chandeliers.

Yes, tennis in the Grand Ballroom. Only New York could serve this particular cocktail of sport and sophistication.

World-Class Tennis in a Legendary Ballroom

Guests will enjoy a series of 45-minute singles showcase matches featuring ATP and WTA stars Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton, Leylah Fernandez and Maria Sakkari.

The Grand Ballroom has hosted some of New York’s most significant cultural moments, including the first Tony Awards, early Met Galas and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. On August 27, the storied room will trade its dance floor for a baseline and welcome live tennis for the first time.

The invitational also marks the official debut of Waldorf Astoria Racquet Club, a new global platform connecting racquet sports with travel, style, culinary experiences and social culture.

The concept feels perfectly timed. Tennis and padel have become more than athletic pursuits. They have evolved into fashionable social experiences where people gather, travel, dine and connect.

Champagne, Seafood and Courtside-Inspired Cocktails

The evening’s hospitality program promises to be just as memorable as the matches.

Guests can expect Champagne from Moët & Chandon, premium seafood, interactive chef stations and playful tennis-inspired bites. Culinary programming will showcase Lex Yard, Waldorf Astoria New York’s signature restaurant led by four-time James Beard Award winner Chef Michael Anthony.

The hotel will also revive its original Racquet Club cocktail, continuing the Waldorf Bar tradition of creating drinks connected to important cultural moments. The cocktail will remain available at Lex Yard through September 13.

For a limited time, diners can also order the Lobster Club, prepared with crispy bacon, Little Gem lettuce and heirloom tomatoes.

Meanwhile, Guerlain Wellness Spa will introduce guests to selected beauty and wellness offerings, including an individualized Art of Longevity wellness assessment.

Stay, Spectate and Step Onto the Court

Ticketed experiences begin at $1,500 and include match access, curated food and beverages, player meet-and-greet opportunities and access to exclusive merchandise for purchase.

Guests seeking a deeper experience can select overnight packages that combine event tickets with Waldorf Astoria accommodations, breakfast at Lex Yard, welcome amenities, spa treatments and private tennis clinics.

On August 28, ticket holders can also purchase the Champions’ Grand Ballroom Tennis Clinic Add-On, offering two guests the rare opportunity to train and rally with a touring ATP or WTA player on the ballroom court.

Select packages are available to Hilton Honors American Express Consumer and Business Card Members through Hilton Honors Points.

Luxury With a Purpose

The experience also carries a meaningful community component. Five percent of net event sales will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, with the Hilton Global Foundation matching the contribution.

From the first serve to the final sip of Champagne, the Ballroom Tennis Invitational promises an evening where New York history, athletic talent and Waldorf Astoria elegance share the same court.
