Brings L.A. Together for a Free July 4 Celebration
Gloria Molina Grand Park Summer Block Party is back, and Los Angeles is ready to fill Downtown with music, art, dancing, family joy, and that unmistakable L.A. community glow. On Saturday, July 4, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Gloria Molina Grand Park will host one of the West Coast’s biggest free Fourth of July celebrations at 200 N. Grand Ave. in the heart of DTLA. The event is free, all-ages, and built for the whole city to show up together.
There is something powerful about a block party in Los Angeles. It is not just about gathering outdoors. It is about the mix. The music. The food. The aunties with lawn chairs. This year’s event brings two stages of entertainment, live music, DJs, dance, interactive art, community resources, and a dramatic 700-drone show to close the evening. The lineup includes trumpet player and composer Tatiana Tate, Afro-Latin band L.A. Tropifunk Collective, DJ and broadcaster Anthony Valadez, Pangea Sound, and dance performances by Kaimera.
And yes, comfortable shoes are strongly encouraged.
The Backyard Stage will bring some serious movement. Anthony Valadez will host and help shape the soundtrack for the drone show, while Tatiana Tate brings a bold blend of jazz, funk, soul, and hip-hop. L.A. Tropifunk Collective adds Afro-Caribbean, West African, and funk rhythms that speak directly to the multicultural heartbeat of Los Angeles.
Over at the Front Yard Stage, Pangea Sound will keep the global groove going. Their sound pulls from the Caribbean, Africa, Latin America, and beyond, proving once again that music has no passport when the beat is speaking fluently.
But the Gloria Molina Grand Park Summer Block Party is not only about performance. It is also about participation. Guests can connect with community organizations, join workshops, explore public art, and add their voices to Murmurations by EyeJack and For Freedoms, an augmented-reality installation near City Hall. DSTL Arts Mobile Art Lab will also offer zine-making, giving guests a creative way to document their own stories.
This celebration also carries history. Gloria Molina Grand Park has long served as a public gathering place for Los Angeles, stretching between City Hall and The Music Center. The park was renamed in honor of Gloria Molina in 2023, recognizing her impact and leadership in Los Angeles County.
