Manhattan has no shortage of Italian restaurants. However, Felice Flatiron arrives with something harder to manufacture: the feeling that it already belongs.
The family-run Italian restaurant has opened its new flagship at 220 Fifth Avenue. Set at the corner of West 26th Street, the restaurant overlooks Madison Square Park and sits near the unmistakable Flatiron Building.
This is a dining room with a rather glamorous address. Yet Felice does not want guests to save it only for birthdays, anniversaries, or evenings involving uncomfortable shoes. Instead, the restaurant was designed to become part of daily New York life.
Come for lunch. Meet a friend for wine. Stay for dinner. Then, perhaps, order a nightcap because the room has persuaded you that tomorrow can wait.
A New York Living Room With Tuscan Bones
Felice opened its first restaurant on Manhattan’s Upper East Side in 2007. Since then, the brand has built its identity around Tuscan-inspired food, Italian wines, and welcoming rooms where guests can settle in rather than rush out.
The Flatiron location carries that philosophy into a far grander setting.
Felice Flatiron occupies space inside a historic neo-Gothic Fifth Avenue building. Eighteen-foot ceilings and windows surrounding three sides of the dining room bring in generous natural light. They also provide sweeping views of Madison Square Park and the neighborhood below.
Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture led the design, balancing warm minimalism with quiet luxury. Italian oak millwork crafted in Florence gives the room depth, while Tuscan materials prevent the space from becoming another polished but personality-free Manhattan dining box.
The restaurant shifts with the hour. It feels bright and open during the afternoon, then warmer and more intimate as evening arrives.
The Bar Is Ready for Its Close-Up
At the center of Felice Flatiron is the largest bar the restaurant group has created.
Wrapped in Grigio Versilia marble and backed by Chianti terracotta sourced from Tuscany, the bar serves as both the visual centerpiece and social engine of the room. Nearby, a 30-foot illuminated wine wall adds a little theater without shouting for attention.
The bar is designed for coffee, cocktails, wine, or a complete meal. In other words, it understands New Yorkers beautifully. Sometimes we want a reservation. Sometimes we simply want a comfortable seat and a very good glass of something.
Felice’s wine program continues to champion smaller producers. Wines by the glass generally fall between $16 and $28, while the expanded bottle list includes Italian and international selections, with many priced below $100.
A “Back to Natural” section highlights low-intervention wines. The philosophy is refreshingly focused: fewer bottles, stronger selections, and a clear reason for everything on the list.
Aperitivo, Pasta and a Tableside Tiramisu Moment
The cocktail program combines Italian drinking traditions with playful new signatures. Guests can explore drinks such as the Dirty Martini Spritz, along with seasonal interpretations of aperitivo favorites.
Daily aperitivo service carries the restaurant from late afternoon into evening. Later, a new Nightcap menu keeps the evening moving with choices such as the Amaro Shakerato, Limoncello Martini, and Affogato Martini.
The food remains rooted in Tuscany. Expect seasonal ingredients, regional recipes, classic Italian pastas, and dishes meant to be shared.
The new Il Toscano Plate features rotating selections of salumi, pecorino, olives, and crostini. Meanwhile, a tableside tiramisu cart and interactive amaro station add just enough performance to make dinner feel celebratory.
And really, tableside tiramisu is the kind of public service New York could use more often.
Felice Flatiron Settles Into the Neighborhood
The official restaurant listing confirms that Felice Flatiron serves lunch, brunch, and dinner, with daily bar happy hour from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Dinner runs until 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
With its park views, monumental bar, and all-day rhythm, Felice Flatiron feels polished without becoming precious. Tuscany supplies the materials and culinary foundation. New York brings the pace, personalities, and appetite.
