Las Vegas will get a thunderous salute from the sky on Saturday, June 27, as the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds join the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority for a special flyover honoring the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Beginning at approximately 7:15 p.m., residents and visitors across the Las Vegas Valley are invited to look up as the Thunderbirds launch from Nellis Air Force Base in their iconic six-aircraft delta formation. For Las Vegas, a city built on spectacle, this one carries a different kind of voltage. It is not neon. It is not fireworks. It is precision, service, discipline, and national pride moving across the desert sky at jet speed.
The route will carry the Thunderbirds over several major landmarks and neighborhoods, giving communities throughout the valley a chance to witness the aerial tribute. The flyover is expected to include passes over the Las Vegas Strip, North Las Vegas VA Medical Center, Lone Mountain, Las Vegas Ballpark, Red Rock Canyon, Mt. Charleston, Hoover Dam, and Boulder City before the aircraft return to Nellis.

7:15 p.m. – Takeoff from Nellis Air Force Base
7:20–7:22 p.m. – Las Vegas Strip, north to south pass
7:23–7:25 p.m. – Las Vegas Strip, south to north pass
7:26 p.m. – North Las Vegas VA Medical Center
7:29 p.m. – Lone Mountain
7:30 p.m. – Las Vegas Ballpark
7:32 p.m. – Red Rock Canyon
7:34 p.m. – Mt. Charleston
7:47 p.m. – Hoover Dam
7:48 p.m. – Boulder City
8:00 p.m. – Land at Nellis Air Force Base
As with any flyover, the times are estimates and may shift based on weather, air traffic, and operational conditions. The desert has its own temperament, and this weekend, high winds have already altered part of the original plan.
Due to forecasted high winds, the American flag will not be displayed on the Hoover Dam this Saturday. However, the Thunderbirds are scheduled to fly over the Hoover Dam and its American flag on Tuesday, June 30, as they travel to Washington, D.C., for Salute to America250 celebrations. Additional details are expected to be shared as they become available.
The public is encouraged to enjoy the flyover from safe, public viewing areas throughout the valley and to follow all local traffic and safety guidance. For those planning to watch from popular areas near the Strip, Red Rock, Hoover Dam, or Boulder City, patience will matter. Big skies can still create big crowds.
