Western Financial Group brought a strong mix of community pride, football energy and philanthropy to Winnipeg with a tailgate-themed celebration and ribbon cutting at its newly rebranded branch on Kenaston Boulevard.
The event welcomed customers, community partners, local leaders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers representatives ahead of the team’s home opener. For Western Financial Group, the afternoon was more than a game-day gathering. It was a public reminder that business, service and community connection can stand on the same field and move in the same direction.
As a proud partner of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Western Financial Group leaned into the spirit of football season with tailgate-style festivities, branch tours and opportunities for guests to meet the local team. The celebration also marked the full integration of former Wyatt Dowling branded locations under the Western Financial Group name.
Grant Ostir, CEO of Western Financial Group, described the day as meaningful for both the company and the community. He noted that the event reflected the values at the heart of Western: building connections, celebrating local pride and giving back in ways that make a lasting difference.
That commitment came into focus through a special Western Communities Foundation donation presentation. During the celebration, the foundation presented a $25,000 cheque to Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations through its Quote for Hope initiative. Stefano Grande, President and CEO of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, accepted the donation on behalf of CCHF.
The gift speaks to the deeper purpose behind the gathering. Through Quote for Hope, the Western Communities Foundation turns everyday insurance conversations into support for children’s hospital foundations across Canada. Funds stay local, helping children and families in the communities where they live, grow and heal.
The event also drew notable guests, including Manitoba Finance Minister Adrien Sala and Winnipeg Blue Bombers President and CEO Wade Miller. Their attendance underscored the importance of local partnerships, especially when private companies, public leaders and community organizations work together with shared purpose.
In many ways, the Winnipeg tailgate event captured what makes community work powerful. It was festive without being flashy. It was rooted in business, but not limited by it. It brought people together around football, then pointed that energy toward children, families and local care.
As the football season begins, Western Financial Group is continuing to show how community presence can be more than a slogan. In Winnipeg, that meant opening the doors, cutting the ribbon, supporting a beloved team and giving back to a cause that matters.
For Western Financial Group, the scoreboard was not just about touchdowns. It was about trust, generosity and showing up for the people who make a community strong.
