Washington, D.C.’s oldest neighborhood is preparing to welcome a thoroughly modern new resident. citizenM Washington, D.C. Georgetown will open in June 2026, bringing colorful interiors, locally inspired artwork, clever technology, and around-the-clock hospitality to the historic Georgetown district.
Located at 3401 K Street, the 230-room hotel will sit near the C&O Canal, Georgetown’s waterfront, boutiques, restaurants, cafés, and Georgetown University. It will become citizenM’s third Washington, D.C. property and the first new citizenM hotel to debut since the lifestyle brand joined the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio.
Historic Georgetown Meets Contemporary Design
Designed by Concrete Amsterdam, citizenM Washington, D.C. Georgetown will offer the brand’s familiar mix of playful design and practical comfort. Rather than filling the property with stiff furniture and hushed corners, citizenM creates spaces meant to be used.
Guests can answer emails in the living room, enjoy drinks and snacks at the 24-hour canteenM, exercise in the hotel’s 24-hour gym, or settle into one of several colorful gathering areas. The hotel will also feature a commissioned mural by Washington, D.C.-based artist J.D. Deardourff, adding a local artistic voice to the international brand’s visual language.
This is Georgetown without the powdered-wig energy. The neighborhood’s history remains outside the door, while the interiors arrive dressed for the present.
Small Rooms With Some Very Smart Ideas
citizenM guest rooms are compact, but every inch has an assignment. Each room includes an XL wall-to-wall king-size bed, luxury bedding, a rain shower, complimentary Wi-Fi and a 4K television with streaming capabilities.
An in-room tablet controls the temperature, blinds, television and lighting. Guests can even adjust the room’s light colors, which means the ambiance may shift from productive morning headquarters to evening cocoon without anyone leaving the bed.
It is a particularly useful setup for travelers who want technology and comfort without paying for a room filled with furniture they will never touch.
A New Marriott Bonvoy Chapter
The opening also represents a significant milestone for Marriott International and Another Star, which owns and operates citizenM’s 37 hotels throughout the United States and Europe.
Guests can now earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points during citizenM stays. Travelers enrolled in the paid mycitizenM+ membership program also receive instant Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status.
Still, technology and loyalty points are only part of the formula. citizenM’s staff members, known as ambassadors, are trained across multiple hotel roles. They may assist with check-in, prepare coffee, serve a drink or recommend a neighborhood restaurant without sending guests on a scavenger hunt for another employee.
With its lively communal spaces, local artwork and highly connected rooms, citizenM Washington, D.C. Georgetown appears ready to offer something refreshing: a hotel that respects Georgetown’s history without becoming trapped inside it.
