Some collaborations feel like two logos shaking hands for a photo. The Todd Snyder Lagavulin collection is not that. Time & Craft is a limited-edition menswear and lifestyle capsule from a New York designer who’s been drinking Lagavulin for years. You can tell. It’s in the stores and online now, and it smells a little like peat smoke.
The drop also lands as Todd Snyder New York celebrates its 15th anniversary. Fifteen years of reworking American classics, paired with a whisky house that has been distilling on Islay since 1816. That’s a fair trade.
Why Lagavulin 16 Is the Blueprint
If you know Lagavulin 16-Year-Old, you know it’s not a shy pour. Smoke up front, sea air in the back, and a long finish that makes you slow down whether you planned to or not.
That slowness is the whole idea here. The whisky comes off a notably slow distillation, then sits in oak for at least 16 years. Snyder saw his own design process in that: start with forms and materials that last, then find a fresh angle.
“Lagavulin has been my favorite whisky for years,” Snyder said. He wanted pieces people “could wear and live with.” That’s the right goal. Nobody needs another jacket that only works on a mannequin.
The Pieces: Scottish Cloth, American Bones
The heart of this Scotland-inspired menswear capsule is Lovat Mill, the Scottish weaver behind its two hero pieces.
The Suede Stable Jacket ($2,498)
Italian calf suede from Pellemoda in Tuscany, lined in the Lagavulin Islay Tartan. The tartan was introduced in 2025 and is officially registered with the Scottish Register of Tartans. Big-ticket, yes. But the lining is the kind of detail you notice every time you shrug it on.
The Chore Jacket ($568)
Todd Snyder’s signature chore coat, rebuilt in a 500-gram Lovat wool tweed. Deep greens, peat browns, copper tones. It looks like the moors and feels like a coat you’ll still wear in ten winters.
The Rest of the Capsule
- Fair Isle Sweater Jacket ($498) in superfine merino
- Fair Isle Beanie ($128)
- Wool Tie ($198), hand-stitched in Italy
- Wool Scarf ($148) in printed Italian lambswool
- Lambswool Blanket + Suede Carrier ($498), arriving late October
A Campaign Shot Where the Whisky Lives
The brands went to Islay for the Time & Craft campaign, with photography by Boo George and film by Michael Casker. Actor Ben Ahlers fronts it, leaning over a rail in the stillhouse with a bottle of 16 under his arm.
What I respect is who stands next to him. Former warehouse manager Iain “Pinky” McArthur, with more than 50 years in Scotch. Donnie MacKinnon, 42 years at Lagavulin, alongside his grandson Shane. Senior operators Grant Addison and Robert Shaw. And Karen Robertson, who grew up overlooking Lagavulin Bay.
Where I come from, the people who make the thing are the story. Abuelas at the stove, not the marketing team. Good to see a heritage brand put its own people in the frame.
Ahlers put it simply: you can feel the pride people take in making it.
Where to Get the Todd Snyder Lagavulin Collection
Time & Craft is available now at toddsnyder.com/lagavulin and select Todd Snyder stores across the U.S. It’s the first chapter of a longer partnership, with in-store experiences and more Islay storytelling coming.
Readers of legal drinking age can pick up Lagavulin 16-Year-Old through ReserveBar. My advice: grab the bottle first. Pour one. Then decide which jacket you need. Please enjoy responsibly.
