The United Arab Emirates is home to some of the warmest temperatures in the Middle East.
Dubai, the most visited of all seven Emirates, can reach heights of 100°F or more for the majority of the year, with little precipitation.
Needless to say, it gets pretty hot – hot enough to think twice about outdoor activities during Spring, Summer, and early Fall months.
But lo and behold, the country that never ceases to amaze us with its innovation, architectural prowess, and seemingly endless streams of wealth, has found a way to make it snow right in the middle of the desert – by creating the first indoor Ski Resort in the Middle East: Ski Dubai.
Set in The Mall of the Emirates, (One of the largest shopping malls in the world), Ski Dubai is a -4 degree, 22 thousand square meter snowy play-land equipped with skiing, indoor skydiving, and even penguins. Yes. Penguins.
Once you arrive, you’ll have the following options, depending on your chosen package:
- Ski Slope Access (all levels of difficulty)
- Ski Park Access (8 different activities)
- Indoor Skydiving
- Penguin Meet and Greet (two species)
- Ski Lifts
- Ski and Snow Boarding Lessons
- Premium Ski Gear Rentals (Clothing, Boots, etc)
- Professional Photography Pictures (in different areas of the resort)
The Bottom Line:
Ski Dubai is a blast by any standard, and once you’re finished hitting the slopes, playing with penguins, and sipping on hot chocolate after your private ski lessons, you’ll almost forget that you’re in the middle of a tropical paradise.
