When heritage, craftsmanship, and culture converge, the result is more than just a bottle of tequila—it becomes a living canvas. That’s exactly what Tequila Don Julio and award-winning Mexican American designer Willy Chavarria deliver with the newest Tequila Don Julio 70 Añejo Cristalino Artist Edition Bottle, unveiled just in time for Día de Muertos.
The second annual Artist Edition release builds on a partnership rooted deeply in Mexican identity and creativity. This latest design pays homage to modern Mexico through timeless artistry and bold contemporary design. Chavarria, celebrated for blending Chicano culture with high-fashion silhouettes, brings his distinctive voice to the bottle. Adorned with his signature red roses—a symbol of resilience, passion, and undying love—the bottle features imagery of classic Mexican iconography styled in some of Chavarria’s most recognizable looks, from the flower hat to the Cascada trousers. Each detail evokes the cherished Día de Muertos holiday while telling a larger story of cultural pride and resilience.
“My partnership with Tequila Don Julio has grown naturally over the years, fueled by our shared passion for Mexican heritage and craftsmanship,” Chavarria said. “The newest iteration reflects the evolution of our creative journey. Red roses, an iconic motif in my work, come alive across the design, embodying fidelity, undying love and the timeless beauty of Mexican culture.”
But the collaboration doesn’t stop at the bottle. In a bold extension of his artistic vision, Chavarria is launching the Willy Chavarria x Tequila Don Julio Cristalino Collection—a first-of-its-kind jewelry line handcrafted in Mexico City. The collection includes a necklace, ring, and cuff designed in white gold, diamond pavé, and radiant crystals, each piece featuring Chavarria’s rose motif and intertwined serpents. Available exclusively via Charitybuzz, the auction will open on November 2nd, with proceeds directly benefiting the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC) and Plataforma Arte Contemporáneo, two organizations dedicated to uplifting Mexican and Hispanic creatives.
Mari Hernandez, Deputy Director at NALAC, emphasized the importance of this collaboration: “This helps ensure that future generations of Mexican and Hispanic creatives have the resources they need to thrive.” José Noé Suro, Co-Founder of Plataforma Arte Contemporáneo, added: “With this incredible support, we can continue fostering the talent and innovation that help define Mexico’s creative landscape.”
The initiative is also backed by Tequila Don Julio’s ongoing commitment to honoring its roots. “As a proudly Mexican brand, it’s important for us to collaborate with partners who share our deep commitment to celebrating Mexican culture and its people,” said Karen Harris, Senior Vice President of Agave, Diageo North America.
The bottle itself houses the same acclaimed Tequila Don Julio 70 Añejo Cristalino that revolutionized the tequila category as the first Cristalino. Aged 18 months in American white oak barrels, it combines the rich depth of an Añejo with the crisp brightness of a Blanco—smooth, complex, and versatile whether sipped neat, on the rocks, or in a crafted cocktail.
Priced at $69.99 for a 750ml, the Artist Edition bottle will be available in select retailers nationwide and online at DonJulio.WillyChavarria.com. With its fusion of tradition, fashion, and flavor, this release is not just a drink but a statement—one that honors Mexico’s past, celebrates its present, and inspires its creative future.
