Bandai Namco Filmworks and Japan Society deliver an unforgettable Gundam celebration featuring English voice actors, 4K remasters, and exclusive announcements.
Gundam fever swept through New York City as Japan Society transformed into a mecha lover’s paradise during New York Comic Con weekend. In partnership with Bandai Namco Filmworks, fans were treated to an unforgettable two-day Gundam Film Festival on October 11–12, celebrating decades of the legendary anime franchise with screenings, live talks, and exclusive reveals.
The packed theater buzzed with excitement as longtime fans and newcomers alike gathered for English-dubbed screenings of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz Special Edition (4K Remastered) and Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway. The weekend honored Gundam’s cinematic evolution while spotlighting the creative forces behind its enduring legacy.
Saturday kicked things off with Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX – Beginning –, followed by a special giveaway of the ANNO SCENARIO & DESIGN WORKS 2 deluxe booklet and collectible film frames, marking their first-ever U.S. release. It was a collector’s dream moment that set the tone for a festival celebrating both nostalgia and innovation.
On Sunday, fans were treated to a powerful double feature and appearances by English-language cast members. Mark Hildreth, the voice of Heero Yuy, took the stage for Endless Waltz, performing classic lines that sent the audience into nostalgic cheers. Joined by MC Daniel Quadri, Hildreth reflected on Gundam’s global influence:
“None of us knew just how beloved Gundam would become,” he shared. “It’s awesome to be part of a project that has that kind of integrity and staying power. Thank you to the fans for keeping it alive.”
The celebration continued with Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, featuring Megan Shipman (Gigi Andalucia) and Aaron B. Phillips (Kenneth Sleg). The duo offered behind-the-scenes insights into the English dubbing process and shared a sneak peek of “Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe.”
“The passion that fans bring to Gundam makes it special every time,” said Shipman. “We feel that energy in the studio, and it’s why we love being part of it.”
The Japan Society event concluded with cheers, commemorative photos, and excitement for what’s next as Bandai Namco Filmworks’ “New York Takeover” underscored Gundam’s growing global reach. From 4K remasters to new film announcements, Gundam’s spirit remains stronger than ever—uniting generations through the universal language of mecha, courage, and storytelling.
