A Seven-Day Immersive Experience Celebrates Dominican Culture, Hospitality, and Warmth

In a dazzling display of colors, sounds, and flavors, the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic recently brought a piece of the Caribbean to the heart of New York City with its winter campaign, “Change the Season.” The seven-day immersive experience in Times Square successfully transported visitors from the chilly November weather to the warmth and beauty of the Dominican Republic.

The grand finale on Sunday, November 26th, featured a celebratory ceremony presided by Mr. David Collado, Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, alongside key figures such as Ydanis Ramirez, New York City Department of Transportation Commissioner, and Congressman Adriano Espaillat. The event was not only a showcase of Dominican hospitality but also a celebration of the country’s rich culture and diverse landscapes.

Mr. Collado Morales expressed his gratitude, stating, “This activation allowed us to showcase the unique facets of our culture and invite visitors from around the world to explore our diverse landscapes, rich cuisine, beautiful beaches, and unparalleled hospitality.”

At the heart of the immersive experience was an enclosed dome that served as a portal to the Dominican Republic’s cultural wonders. From traditional Carnival performers and folkloric ballet to various music groups showcasing traditional dances, guests were treated to a vibrant representation of Dominican artistry. Renowned artist Angurria painted a dynamic mural, capturing the essence of Dominican culture and traditions throughout the activation.

Upon entering the dome, visitors found themselves transported to a tropical paradise, where the senses were tantalized by the warmth, the aroma of Café Santo Domingo, and the magic of beautiful sunsets reflected in projected videos. The experience also featured delectable Dominican delicacies, including Jalao, Habichuelas con Dulces, Arroz con Leche, “pilones,” and tobacco demonstrations.

The immersive journey went beyond entertainment, offering insights into the diverse travel experiences available in the Dominican Republic’s various destinations. From majestic beaches to warm hospitality, the campaign aimed to inspire travelers to escape the winter cold and embark on an adventure to the Caribbean nation.

The campaign’s central message, “Change The Season,” encourages U.S. travelers to embrace the timeless summer of the Dominican Republic. With its inviting beaches, vibrant culture, and welcoming atmosphere, the country beckons those seeking an escape from the harsh winter weather.

As the curtains close on this enchanting Times Square experience, the Dominican Republic leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of New Yorkers and tourists alike, inviting them to consider the Caribbean paradise as their next destination to escape, explore, and experience the magic of the Dominican Republic.
